Eta is born
Eta Foods is established as a wholly owned subsidiary of George Abel’s Newmarket based business, 'Abel's'. Eta becomes New Zealand’s leading snack company, producing a range of potato chips, nuts, cheesy snacks, mayonnaise, salad dressings and peanut butter.
Welcome to Wiri

Eta's iconic “Big Taste Always Gets Through” TV campaign is launched.
Eta joins the Griffin's family
Griffin’s acquires Eta foods, including its range of chips, peanuts, peanut butter and salad dressings. The Eta spreads and dressings were later sold, now owned by Goodman Fielder.
