1955

ETA IS BORN

Eta Foods is established as a wholly owned subsidiary of George Abel’s Newmarket based business, 'Abel's'. Eta becomes New Zealand’s leading snack company, producing a range of potato chips, nuts, cheesy snacks, mayonnaise, salad dressings and peanut butter.

 

1970s

Welcome to Wiri

Eta opens a manufacturing facility in Wiri to produce chips, where production continues today.

1980s

Trucking On

Eta's iconic “Big Taste Always Gets Through” TV campaign is launched.

1987

Eta joins the Griffins Family

Griffin’s acquires Eta foods, including its range of chips, peanuts, peanut butter and salad dressings. The Eta spreads and dressings were later sold, now owned by Goodman Fielder.

2004

FANCY FLAVOURS

Eta creates the premium potato chip market with the launch of Uppercuts.

2018

Kettle Chip Company launch

The Kettle Chip Company brand is launched, bringing more premium chips to the New Zealand market

2020

SnackaChangi touches down

The introduction of SnackaChangi chips to the market creates a huge buzz and they prove to be instantly popular

2021

Eta Ripples launch with a new look, and now gluten free!

Investment in a state-of-the-art chip plant at the Wiri site in Auckland has created Eta Ripples best-ever quality chip, giving Kiwis more crunch, superior flavouring, a new look pack & 100% Gluten Free!

The brand returns to Kiwis' TV screens for the first time in over 30 years!
